Parade with opponents

I had organized a Loan Mela programme at Parade Ground in Bengaluru. We wanted to disburse loan to 1.5 lakh people. I was staying in Kumara Krupa Guest House. Opposition party workers came to the Guest House and started shouting slogans; "Poojary Murdabad, Down with Poojary," They were also carrying sticks with them. Around 2000 -3000 people were there. City Police Commissioner came to me and said: 'Sir, let us not go to the venue of the programme. People are very angry and your life is in danger."My opponents had hatched a conspiracy to stop me from visiting Parade Ground to conduct the Loan Mela.

"Get a chair", I told one of the Assistants. He brought. I came out with the chair and stood on it. "Do you have any idea what I am doing? Who is getting benefit out of Loan Melas? It could be your sister, mother or a relative. We are not asking caste details of the loan seekers. We are not even asking which Party they are affiliated to. Today we are giving loan to more than a lakh people. How can you come in the way of this noble cause? We have not come here for seeking votes. It is a Government programme and we want it to reach the people. If you think what I am doing is wrong, I don't agree with you. You can also come with us and see what we are doing", I said. They realized their mistake. Slogans turned in my favour now. Then we all walked till Parade Ground. I made them hand over loan papers to the beneficiaries. They also felt happy. "We were wrong. Please excuse us," they said at the end of the programme.
